Racing has become a very important part of my life. It takes a lot of dedication and a lot of focus but results in a real sense of accomplishment and puts me in great shape. Sharing this information helps keep my mind in the game and lets you read about my experiences :)

Need a quick break from work

Wow, my work day...well the whole week has just been crazy for me so I decided to take a few breaks and update the ol' blog. This afternoon a big group of us are going to meet up at the Minnehaha DQ for blizzards. This time it's more than us just being hungry or needing a social hour....it's actually a charity event. Blizzards bought today become donations to the Gillette Children's hospital. What a perfect excuse right? :)

So to update on my training, I went for a great 8 mile run two night ago. I was expecting it to be horribly difficult but it was actually nice and relaxing for me. Probably more so because it was a good excuse for me to get out and not think about work! I'm trying to follow a marathon training schedule now until the TC Marathon so that run was supposed to be a "Quality" run. Which means I had to do some speed work during part of the run. I found a couple good stretches to do some fartlek work. All in all my overall average pace was 10:23 and I felt good when I was done.
Yesterday Dana came over and we did a brick from my place. Unfortunately just as we were getting ready to go one rain cloud came over and poured on us just enough to make the roads wet so we were getting road spray most of our ride. About 20 miles but it was a good ride and fun to have company. Then we did about 3 1/2 miles run down to Starring Lake and back. I haven't gone to Masters swim this week, mainly due to me being too lazy to get out of bed but oh well. I have the Turtleman Tri on Saturday and I know it will be fine. We're all there for the prize drawings afterwards anyway since this is a GearWest sponsored race :)

OK...back to work!
