Alright sorry it has once again been much too long since I've made an entry so I'm forcing myself to stay up tonight and at least briefly get you up to speed. Let's get the personal stuff out of the way real quick first.
The new townhouse is pretty much complete now except for a bunch of clean up projects I'm working on. The new carpet went in last week so it feels much more like a useable space now in my living room. The cats are pretty much used to their new surroundings as well.
The big thorn that hit me last week was when I was laid off from my job on Wednesday. I always knew that it would be possible since I'm a remote employee and not in upper management. It was just a major shock after being basically at the same company since I graduated HS (9+ years ago). I was more stressed and freaked out about my financial stability. As those of you close to me know, I'm not in a place where I have excess money to keep me afloat for very long. Unfortunately the "freaking out" managed to get in the way of 3 workouts last week but I think I've gotten myself back in line enough to get back on track for training and job hunting. (So for all you followers.....if you know of ANY open job opportunities, please let me know :)
As far as Ironman training we are now in Week #3. I'm still all over the place as far as when I fit in my strength training but I think that will settle itself into a specific day of the week (or two) once I get this work stuff figured out. And so many people at my Masters swim group are part of a training group called Performance Power (P2) that I finally inquired about it. Not sure it's something I can do while training with Team In Training but we'll see. Worst case I consider joining them in the fall. Sounds like it's a pretty intense group but all "good pain".
I decided yesterday (Sunday) I couldn't tolerate the idea of treadmilling for an hour long steady run so I braved the outdoors. The trails were pretty heavily covered with snow so it felt more like running across soft sand but it was SO nice just to be outside. The temperature finally got about 0 for the first time in nearly a week so the 18 degrees with no wind felt great once I got moving. The sun was just barely showing and the most perfect snowflakes were gently falling. It was very relaxing mentally....physically it was not relaxing. The trail conditions made it very hard for me to keep moving and keep my heart rate below 75% at the same time. I think I averaged about 12 min/mile.
Not much to say about biking....just been spinning on my indoor trainer. Swimming has been going pretty well. I think I'm finally over the hurdle of "getting back into it" after my holiday break. Took two good weeks of swimming for that. Today was a long swim that kept us moving pretty much the entire time. Our faster sets were 250s. Between recovery 50s and 100s we did 4-250s @ 4:30/4:25/4:20/4:15. I missed the 4:25 by a few seconds but managed to make all the other times so I was pretty happy with that.
My nutritional habits are still just down right crappy but I try not to beat myself up too much. I have a list of goals and a list of reasons in front of me all the time that should keep me away from all the bad foods but for some reason it doesn't. Frustrating..... I have a goal weight in mind for myself. I won't write exactly what I'm going for (a woman never tells!) but let's just say it's a very significant number for me right now ;)
As I finish of my can of Mt. Dew, I finish with a promise to TRY and not wait so long to blog again :)

Hang in there Kris! It's good that you have the training to distract and ground yourself in. Keep your head up and keep stepping forward. Life will work itself out! I wish you the best in your job search!
