Racing has become a very important part of my life. It takes a lot of dedication and a lot of focus but results in a real sense of accomplishment and puts me in great shape. Sharing this information helps keep my mind in the game and lets you read about my experiences :)

Minneman Triathlon

OK so on to catching up on the next race. The one I think will always be my favorite...Minneman. Now I probably have a little bias because this was my first tri I EVER did but it is such a great course for me. It's fast. .3 swim, 13 bike, 3 run......flat, flat, flat :)

Just over 7 minutes separated me from 1st place in my division. I came in 6th which I am trying very hard not to be disappointed about. I had a great race and shaved 3 1/2 minutes off my time from last year so I have to be happy about that. But the disappointment comes in that I landed 5th place last year and didn't crawl up that scale at all..... My Results for anyone interested.

Another exciting thing about this race was that a bunch of other TNTers were racing. Dana made her debut back after resting an injured shoulder. Ironically our times were nearly identical for the whole race. Jim finished in a great time and I will give him nothing but continued grief for saying how slow his bike time was.....especially since he was faster than me and I felt like I made great time!

I also again got to meet up with one of my fellow Team StayPut athletes. The below picture is myself and Mandy. Mandy also raced at Minneman.

Ok, what else.....well it's now time for the Lifetime Tri this weekend. It still hasn't really sunk in that our season is over after Saturday. It's just so weird for the first few weeks after when we all feel extremely deprived of seeing each other and hanging out at trainings.

I also think I have had a few moments of clarity during my last few races and weeks of training where I realized I need to put a lot of good hard thought into my race schedule for next year. I enjoy the sprint races where I really feel like I can be my own personal version of "fast". The accomplishment of the longer races is great but I want to build my schedule around fewer races and maybe only one long distance. I want to train to be fast at the shorter races. And maybe thrown in swimming in the relay at Burrito Union.

OK good night..... I need to get up and swim tomorrow morning :)
