Racing has become a very important part of my life. It takes a lot of dedication and a lot of focus but results in a real sense of accomplishment and puts me in great shape. Sharing this information helps keep my mind in the game and lets you read about my experiences :)

Let the Feasting Begin!

Well it's more like obnoxious stuffing of the face but I can't wait! It's State Fair time and Australian Battered Potatoes.....here I come! Followed swiftly by a bucket of Sweet Martha's Cookies and milk :) So in preparation of Saturday's Fair visit, I had a nice long Zone 2-3 run today. I was supposed to do 7-8 but my new route was a little longer than I figured so it ended up being more like 9.25. But thankfully it was a very cloudy and slightly breezy evening. It never ceases to amaze me that for the three summers I've been doing run training around here, I still manage to find new fun roads to run. I found this really pretty, quiet road of 20-30 year old homes that kind of wound through a wooded area, surrounding a neighborhood of all these really new homes. I ran with my MP3 player today and unfortunately I think my Garmin is going to officially die on me soon, hence the approximations on how far I think I ran. It's about 4-5 years old so maybe it's time to look at a new one anyway. Oh and one funny thing I thought of while on my run today......I don't know about where you live but I swear I saw 10-15 different pizza delivery vehicles drive past me while I was out running for my 1hr 40min. Kind of funny how many people must be stuffing their faces with pizza right now. Although I do have to admit I have a new love for Umbria pizza, awesome stuff! Not as good as Papa Smurfys but it's a close 2nd.
I think I'm going to spend the rest of the night curled up on the couch watching pre-season football. Thanks to a friend of a friend of a friend (really......) winning season tickets to the Vikings regular season, my friend of a friend is going to let me buy his season tickets pretty cheap and then he's going to likely always sit with his friend that won the tickets since her seats are a little better. Sorry if that was confusing but it makes sense to me :-P I'm just excited that I get to go to 5 of the home games including the home opener against Indy, one of my other favorite teams.
I'm looking forward to another social event coming up with all my TNT friends. Becca is hosting a Pasta Party to celebrate Captain Cartwheel and Ms. R heading off to Madison for the Ironman. Talk about a super strong duo, you go girls!! I still can't believe after reading all their ups and downs and seeing all the hours upon hours of training they have endured...I'm still going to sign up for next year. Yikes. But I figure now or never right? Maybe I've said that before but I guess I need to keep telling myself that as well :)
