Racing has become a very important part of my life. It takes a lot of dedication and a lot of focus but results in a real sense of accomplishment and puts me in great shape. Sharing this information helps keep my mind in the game and lets you read about my experiences :)

Pacific Crest Half Iron - Pre Race

So I'm sitting here in my cozy townhome bedroom in SunRiver, OR needing to go to bed soon because I have to race the Half Iron tomorrow. We got here last night and today got in a short run and bike and then had to hand off our bikes to some group to transport to T1. Unfortunately this is one of those races that have split transitions. Makes me nervous not to have all my stuff in one spot but oh well.

Wandered around Athlete Village this afternoon when we had some time and I bought a couple great window stickers for my car. A 13.1 sticker, 26.2 sticker and my favorite.....one of a cute cartoon turtle that says "I AM running". That is so me :-P

It's beautiful country here (and I'll insert here that I don't feel very focused so again....sorry my blogs can be very all over). The air is very fresh here and so far it's been nothing but perfect weather. Unfortunately from what I hear the water in the Reservoir is very cold. We're supposed to spend a few minutes "warming up" in the water to get used to the temperature but I'm pretty sure all that would do is start the process of my core cooling sooner than necessary :-P

I'm not sure how ready for this race I am. I'm going into it not really sure how excited I am, not really sure how focused I will be, not really knowing how well I'll climb on the bike. For now I'm going to bed and we'll see what the morning brings.
