Racing has become a very important part of my life. It takes a lot of dedication and a lot of focus but results in a real sense of accomplishment and puts me in great shape. Sharing this information helps keep my mind in the game and lets you read about my experiences :)

New Toy

Well I did my research and finally forked over my credit card to buy my bike trainer. Thank goodness for Amazon.com.....saved some money buying from there. I got the Kurt Kinetic Road Machine - http://www.kurtkinetic.com/trainers-c-7.html. Now I just need to make room in front of my TV for it :)

Training has still been a little slow for me but I'm trying to transition into more cardio work. Truthfully it's felt a little stressful to find slots of time to workout lately and that doesn't help at all! Haven't been as consistent as I would like with my strength training but I think even after TNT gets going I can maintain 2 strength sessons per week.

Have a fun short story about my niece Lily....she knows that I train with TNT "in honor" of our my niece, her cousin, Nikki. For school she was decided to do Jump Rope for Heart that raises money for the AHA. She's 8 and was kind of having a hard time understanding how she should feel happy about doing something associated with something sad because she is jumping "in honor" of her grandparents that had a heart attack and a stroke. When I talked to her on the phone and told her I was excited to hear she was doing that and that it was like what I do for Nikki, I think it clicked :) She's a great kid, does a lot of sports and currently seems pretty intereseted in the racing that I do and will likely be leaving me in the dust when she gets older. She's so much like me when I was her age it's creepy! Both very happy "tomboys" :) Here's a picture of me and mini me from Valleyfair last summer. Yes I looked almost exactly like her and ate my burgers with no fixin's and no bun :)
