Racing has become a very important part of my life. It takes a lot of dedication and a lot of focus but results in a real sense of accomplishment and puts me in great shape. Sharing this information helps keep my mind in the game and lets you read about my experiences :)

Get In Gear 10k

First things first....check it out I met somebody famous! :-P Yes that is Alton Brown from the Food Network channel. He was doing a book signing at the MOA this past Monday night so I stood in line for 3 hours and got to meet him in person and get my book signed :)
Well I have to admit I really want to dive into a long novel about my life right here because it's been heavily on my mind but truthfully I'm not a very open person. Not in a mean way, guess it's just scared of being hurt and also just don't want certain people getting details on my personal thoughts and feelings since this is a public blog. I am very connected with music so maybe I'll just say that right now I'm listening to Sara Bareilles - City and Gravity.
Well race related....I think I am over my shin splints :) :) :) :) Good grief that was a serious damper in my training but I had the Get In Gear 10k on Saturday and despite the frigid weather, managed a 9:06/mi. It was a lot of fun too because some of my teammates/friends were also running the race and we stayed together for most of the course. Running is always more fun for me if I have someone to tell me a good story to distract me from how tired I am :)
With the Tahoe team we biked out from Oakdale to "murderous" Myrtle in Stillwater. I am definitely one of the if not THE slowest biker on the team but I guess for the century ride I'm really not going to let that bother me. We are going out to have fun and a bunch of us already agreed to stick together so I'm very excited.
Been doing strength training with my trainer Jason once a week and I think it's been very beneficial. I definitely miss my old trainer Tommy but he moved to San Diego on me so I had to start working with Jason. He's taught me a lot of new strength moves and we are working towards being a faster runner this summer so I've got high hopes and crossed fingers.
I have the Lake Minnetonka Half Marathon this Sunday that I am really looking forward to. I know I'm not going to be fast since my early run training has definitely suffered but I just want to enjoy the run and make it my early season benchmark. Then I can compare to the Monster Dash Half Marathon this fall.
Without starting to write down a path I don't want to go, I will leave you here and head for bed. It was a cold ride out to Myrtle (I think it was like 50 degrees with the sun going down) so I am sipping my hot tea and ready for a warm shower and my fluffy pillow.
Stay strong.......
