Racing has become a very important part of my life. It takes a lot of dedication and a lot of focus but results in a real sense of accomplishment and puts me in great shape. Sharing this information helps keep my mind in the game and lets you read about my experiences :)

Lost in Thought

Sorry if this is a babbled, non-logical mess but I'm just going to ramble. Been kinda stressy lately. Training and life in general is kicking my butt but I'll keep the blog to the training part.

I know I am stronger/faster than I was last year but in my mind I'm slow and everyone has gotten further than I have. Plus I am pretty much off from running since I am having awful shin splints and ankle pain. I have two weeks to my first 1/2 marathon and I can barely stomp out 3 miles. I just wanted to kick and scream while I was trying to run today over lunch. I think the best thing for me to do now is stay off of running until the event and cross my fingers my cross training will keep my cardiovascular endurance up enough to carry me through. I'll try to just do runs with the team on Saturdays.

I did just have team spin class last night. It was an hour long and truthfully my legs were pretty tired and I contemplated not going but I was really glad I did. Surprisingly I came out feeling pretty strong. Unless my heart rate monitor was picking up someone else, I wasn't feeling as painfully tired as I normally do at 180bpm ;)

I'm behind in my studies but I'm trying to keep plugging along as much as I can. This weekend is shot although I am looking forward to it because I have two fundraisers that I'm hoping make me lots of money :)

Shake your head at me if you like but yes after I just rambled about NOT being able to run.....I did just sign up for Twin Cities Marathon last night. It will be my first full marathon so wish me luck.
