Racing has become a very important part of my life. It takes a lot of dedication and a lot of focus but results in a real sense of accomplishment and puts me in great shape. Sharing this information helps keep my mind in the game and lets you read about my experiences :)

Finally Spring!

Quick update on my training. I got to go on my first long run today over my lunch hour. I was going to bring my MP3 player and was pretty bummed at first to find out the batteries were dead. But it ended up being quite nice. I've been struggling with shin splints this last week so I didn't want to venture far from home. I went over to Starring Lake for 8 miles worth of laps and it was so peaceful and beautiful! All the rabbits, squirrels, woodpeckers, robins, cardinals.....it was a perfect spring day for a run. So overall my pace ended up averaging 10:45 which is definitely no record for me but I was just glad despite the leg issues I finished out the 8 miles. Only one month left to the Lake Minnetonka Half Marathon!

Oh yeah! Another exciting piece of news. I got selected to be part of Team StayPut! Only 225 athletes from across the US got chosen to be part of their 2nd annual team. Their goal is to help women stay active and focused on exercise and they are also a national sponsor of Girls On The Run. Being a sponsored athlete I get free team race gear and Goody hair products. What I need to do for them is support their brand, maybe work at their booth before some races, maybe hand out samples and also submit my race statistics and promise to wear their gear for at least 6 races. Considering I have like 20 races on my schedule that should be easy! LOL
