Well I'm so low on free time I'm uploading photos to submit from my last race, watching American Idol and typing this blog all at the same time. I will digress to last Saturday to start my entry...
Last Saturday I had to go down to Red Wing for a Girls on the Run event. Being a sponsored amateur athlete with Goody's Team StayPut, we are required to attend one of these events and work our station. It's the Happy Hair station :) Girls on the Run (GOTR) has 5k events all over the US, promoting young girls to get involved in running and healthy exercise. At our station, we were doing the girl's hair with cool ribbons and ponytail holders and then giving them fun hair color. I'm not much of a stylist but between me and the other three Team StayPut ladies there that day we had a lot of fun and the girls loved it.

After the event, my friend Ed and I went for a bike ride on the Cannon Valley trail. It was a nice warm day and it's an absolutely beautiful trail. We even made a stop to see an Eagle's nest and could see the two baby eagles sticking their heads up. Too cool!

Sunday I had the Gear West Duathlon in Orono (5k-28k-4k). A bunch of other TNT people were racing as well. Unfortunately my best training/racing partner Dana had a pretty good spill on her bike two days before and couldn't race with me. But she took pictures!
It was a chilly start and I was a little concerned with the second run knowing I haven't even done a BRick workout yet this year. I kicked it up for the first run, averaging a pace of 8:53 (yay!) but then I really tired out on the bike since there were some big climbs, or at least they were big for me. Average pace 15.9mph. Then I finished off the 4k with really tired quads at an average pace of 10:22. And the really cool part, I won a set of 10 Spinerval DVDs ($300 worth) and Dana won a bike trainer. The same one I have!
So now it's putting in the final details for my fundraising garage sale that starts tomorrow, then a mock duathlon with the Lifetime team on Saturday, THEN I can find a few minutes to start packing for Tahoe! We leave a week from Friday :) Dana, Becca, Misty and I are staying a few extra days so it will be a fun girls week. (Becca is missing from the pic below)
