Racing has become a very important part of my life. It takes a lot of dedication and a lot of focus but results in a real sense of accomplishment and puts me in great shape. Sharing this information helps keep my mind in the game and lets you read about my experiences :)

Trading shoes for blades

This past week has again been just crazy busy but I did manage to find two nights to strap on my rollerblades and get out for a spin. I've been spending so much time concentrating on my triathlon training that I just didn't make much time to train for the St. Paul Inline Marathon THIS Sunday. Yikes. But my first time out I met up with Misty, went around Calhoun a few times and then I continued on around the Greenway/Cedar Lake loop. 18 miles later, I was feeling a lot better about going into the race on Sunday.

With as much as I've allowed myself to put aside the "I have to race" attitude, it still shows itself from time to time and this weekend will likely be one of those times. One because I don't have any other friends with me at the race and two because I got 3rd place in my age group last year. The weather was crappy so I think a lot of people didn't race last year which may have attributed to me winning an award but (long story short) they didn't give out the age group awards after the race, they were listed online about a week later. So my big "congratulations on getting 3rd" was not having an announcer say my name but it was a box that showed up in the mail with my trophy. This year I'm going for an award again but we'll see what the field is like :)

Today I am off to the skate expo to pick up my race packet and then out to Home for Life to visit Olive. I'm pretty excited about that since I haven't been able to see her since last fall. After that it's off to the Twins game which, for those of you that know me, is a little odd. I'm NOT a baseball fan. But ending up getting free tickets, I figured it would be fun to go since the last game I was at was went I think I was 8 years old. Always good to try new and different things right? :)

Hopefully it's not raining tomorrow morning as there is a slight chance. Wish me luck tomorrow and I hope all of you that rode the Tour de Tonka this morning had a great ride!

the ride today was great Kris. Thank you! The only way to make it better was if you were there. We missed you out there. And even biked through Waconia

Good luck tomorrow Kris. You're awesome and I know you can do it.
