Racing has become a very important part of my life. It takes a lot of dedication and a lot of focus but results in a real sense of accomplishment and puts me in great shape. Sharing this information helps keep my mind in the game and lets you read about my experiences :)

Chisago Lakes Half Ironman

Wow, where to even start! Here's my personal stats. Definitely not a speedy race for me but I had a blast!

Swim time - 40:35
T1 - 1:46
Bike - 3:11:13
T2 - 1:17
Run - 2:32:30
Total time - 6:27:22
Age Rank - 19 out of 20
Overall - 274 out of 299

The only problem I had was went I got smacked in the face on the swim (again!) but it wasn't so bad. Luckily all us girls (Kimmi, Rachel, Becca, Dana and I) were all in the same Wave. Kimmi and Rachel flew through the course with super speed! They are both training for Madison Ironman so believe it or not, this 6-hour race was just a typical training day for them. You two are awesome!

I was out of the water before Becca and Dana but I slowed up a bit on the bike to allow them both to catch up to me. It was so awesome having them both for the last 15 miles or so. We started the run together and we lost Dana around mile 5. Becca and I stuck together and by mile 7 or so....I was SO glad to have her there with me!!! We ran/walked through the last few miles and crossed the finish line together.

It was amazing and we had a whole group of our TNT friends waiting for us, cheering at the finish. It's so hard to explain how much I have gotten over needing to "race" and have learned to just enjoy the experience and enjoy having my friends around me for support. I could have pushed myself harder and been all by myself on the run course and finished in a faster time, but it wouldn't have been as sweet a victory crossing the line alone for me. It doesn't matter if I was first or last or anywhere in between, my friends are still there cheering just as hard and it's the greatest feeling in the world :) Major thanks to Jon McCarthy who drove all over the course to stop and cheer all of us half Iron people on. We saw him a bunch of times along the bike and run course and it gave me such a smile to hear that cowbell!

Here's a link to some photos that Karl took. More will be posted as I get them: Chisago Pictures

A HUGE congrats to all the Chisago sprint and half iron finishers, you all are rock stars!

Fantastic job Kris and it was very easy to tell you were enjoying everything! That made the cheerleading even more fun.
