Let's start all the way back to last Sunday with the IronGirl Duathlon. It went much better than I though it was going to, considering I hadn't been on my bike AT ALL in a month. TNT had a duathlon team this year so it was fun to be amongst "family" although Dana and I were both in disguise wearing our other sponsor outfits. Luckily Pat, Courtney, Misty, Jon and others kept and eye out for us so we had our cheering squad too :). Unfortunately I dropped my sunglasses at the mounting area for the bike and they broke so I was without them most of the race. Not a huge loss since they weren't expensive but just got tired of squinting. I was trying to push myself a little bit but not over do it since the last thing I want to do now is injure myself 2 week from the marathon. The second run felt ok but started very sluggish. As I rounded the final corner I was seriously excited to see my favorite cheerleader Jon. He gave me a quick "5" and that gave me just enough energy for an extra push to the finish. Here's my results: 2 mile run, 22 mile bike, 2 mile run - 17:15 / 1:10:54 / 18:13 = 1:48:57. 1 minute 20 seconds faster than last year.
This first picture is Mandy, myself and Karen. They are the two I've seen the most this summer from Team StayPut.
Here is Spring, myself and Dana. The professional photographer took this shot of the three of us and our medals :)
Sunday afternoon I was at my parent's house for my mom's daycare reunion party. She retired from daycare this spring and they invited all kids and parents that she ever took care of out for a barbecue. A lot of them showed up that I used to babysit for. Many I didn't even recognize since they are now in high school or college. Boy did I feel old....ugh!
I skipped swim on Monday morning since I was still dog tired from the race but got into the gym in the evening for some strength training.
Tuesday I managed to drag my butt over to the gym for a 6.2 mile run on the treadmill. Man I hate treadmills. It's so boring! But somehow I managed to entertain myself by kinking my neck upwards for a few minutes and watching Biggest Loser. But I'm really feeling good about my run. (for those of you that know me pretty well.....feeling good hasn't been common for me lately) Another way to entertain myself was to keep changing up the speed. Overall I think I did my 6.2 miles in about 57 minutes. (I forgot to look at the exact time.) And I was proud of myself that when my schedule said I was supposed to run 5-6, I actually made it to 5.9 then ramped up the speed for the final 0.1 and felt good so I kept going all the way to 6.2.
Wednesday...I swam in the morning and let's just that afternoon and evening a complete loss....long story.....
Today I went out for a 5 mile run and averaged just under 10 min miles. It was supposed to be a race pace run so that's probably pretty close. Our 20 miler we averaged just about 10 and I would LOVE to keep 10 min. miles at TC but we'll see.
