So I'm spending 4 days down in Phoenix, AZ for work and luckily today I had a few hours break to get out and enjoy not being buried in the frozen tundra of the Midwest. Unfortunately this was my only chance. Long story short, we are booked solid from 7:30am to 9:30-10:00pm every day so that leaves no time for me to workout. Especially when the fitness area doesn't open until 5:30 and costs $10/day....what a rip.
Anyway, the only reason I'm taking a few minutes out to write is to say a few things about my run. And it wasn't even really a run, more like a jog. I'm pretty slow right now but I didn't care about that since I was running outside for once :) We are staying in Scottsdale and luckily there was a great trail for me to follow. It went next to this golf course where there was a ton of ducks, geese and coot along the trails. Then it wound through some housing developments and into a downtown type area. But the best parts were being able to run by orange trees, lemon trees, palm trees, spanish style homes, ponds with fountains...all while having the mountains in the view ahead of me. Now you are probably wondering why there are not a bunch of pictures attached but that is because it was raining. I almost thought about not going but it was my only chance this week so I wasn't going to pass it up. It wasn't a hard rain but after 2 hours I was pretty well soaked. Interesting thing about the trail too was that it seemed to follow a water way of some sort. Like the trail was in the bottom of an overflow rut or something.
OK well that was all I wanted to talk about today. Now I need to go get ready to spend some more quality time with my co-workers for one more day :-P

Enjoy your time down there as best as possible Kris. It's got to be frustrating to be away from your training team when you looked so forward to hanging with them. Not to mention now that training has started work is holding you back. Hang in there. Short term pain, long term gain. Your body probably needed this time off so it's a blessing in disguise.
By the way, it's FREEZING up here if that makes you feel any better.
Thanks for writing this.
