Racing has become a very important part of my life. It takes a lot of dedication and a lot of focus but results in a real sense of accomplishment and puts me in great shape. Sharing this information helps keep my mind in the game and lets you read about my experiences :)

Identifying my weakness

So now that we are two weeks in I have definitely noticed I have the same weakness as I did last year. I am more like a turtle when it comes to running. I took most of the winter off completely from running since my knee was having issues last fall but now I am trying to ease back into it slowly. Right now I run outside once a week with TNT and once inside on the track at Bally's after our TNT spin. I can't hold a 10 min/mile pace right now without my HR spiking to 180+. Running has always been my weakest dicipline of the three. I spoke with my new trainer this morning and he's going to work with me to develop a strength training plan specific for running over the next few months. I think his words were something like..."you are going to be really sore and have your ass kicked but believe me it will be worth it come summer" ....Sounds good....right?...I think... :)
Unfortunately I have to be shipped off to Phoenix on Wednesday - Sunday for work and will likely have very little opportunity to work out while I'm there. I'm going to assess the hotel and schedule as soon as I get there. I just hope the fitness center is open early since I need to be up showered and done up in my business wear by 7am breakfast. I love working from home but it takes me so much longer to get ready in the morning now since I haven't had a consistent routine for so long.

Oh one more thing. My niece Nikki is going to try and come up during her spring break next month. Both she and I want to try and get her to one of my team trainings again so she can meet this year's team. :)
