Racing has become a very important part of my life. It takes a lot of dedication and a lot of focus but results in a real sense of accomplishment and puts me in great shape. Sharing this information helps keep my mind in the game and lets you read about my experiences :)

Ironman training begins now

OK, like many others this is a post after a VERY long period of no posts. I'll try to summarize my time off quickly....

We bought a townhome in Eden Prairie and I took two weeks off from work over the holidays to paint and move. Unfortunately everything I wanted to paint took 2-3 coats but it turned out beautifully (pictures likely to follow once everything is in order :)) Finally got the cable hooked up today so I can work from home and not have to go to Caribou every day. Neo and Maverick are still warming up to the new environment. Spend most of the time under the bed right now. New carpet is going to be installed in the living room hopefully within the next few days and then I can finally get things settled in their place!

Got some bad news a few days ago. My friend from New Germany unexpectedly passed away basically in his sleep. He was only in his 40's so much too young and I have been feeling absolutely horrible because we haven't talked barely at all the past few years and I've alway had the good intention of giving him a call to catch up. My feelings have been all over about this since this is the first time I've lost a friend. Up until now it's just been grandparents, older family members....all more expected deaths. So with as horribly as I already do at funerals....I have a feeling this one is going to be MUCH harder than I expect.

OK on a better note......Ironman training started yesterday! My countdown clock was at 250 days until the Madison Ironman and it kicked off with a day in the pool. Today is supposed to be 50 min zone 2 bike and 35 min zone 2 run. The schedule we are following is based more on time then on distance. It's very exciting to finally be back IN season. I took the two weeks off over the holidays from work and working out and counting calories. I gave myself a complete break and while I was super slow in the pool yesterday, I'm very glad I took the break. Gave me time to work on other things and concentrate on my new home and enjoy what is the last of a little thing called sleeping in :)

Well I need to get back to work but now that things are kicked off for Ironman, you'll be reading from me alot over the next year :)

Welcome back to the land of blogging! Now step away from the computer and give me another coat of paint.

Sorry to read about your friend. Hang in there.
